Union County Commissioner’s Council to Sponsor Paint by the Pond for Community with Special Needs – Union County, New Jersey
Free event at Mindowaskin Park in Westfield on July 17th.
Union County, NJ – Union County residents of all ages with special needs are invited to participate in Paint by the Pond on Saturday, July 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mindowaskin Park, located at 385 E. Broad Westfield Street.
Paint by the Pond is sponsored by the Union County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Westfield. Participation is free but pre-registration is required online at ucnj.org/opdsn-reg.
“Union County has hosted Paint by the Pond in county parks, and Westfield’s participation allows us to bring this popular event to other communities,” said Chairman of the Council of Commissioners Alexander Mirabella. “The Board of Directors is proud to partner with Westfield to create new opportunities for our residents with special needs to enjoy the outdoors in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Paint by the Pond encourages participants to express themselves and create art by painting model cardboard houses. Houses will float on the pond and participants will be allowed to take their creations home.
“I am delighted to see the Paint by the Pond event return to my hometown,” said Commissioner Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded. “This collaboration with the City of Westfield allows our residents with special needs to have an enriching experience in a community setting.
“This is a great initiative that supports one of my administration’s key priorities in ensuring Westfield is accessible and inclusive for all,” said Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle. “We are delighted to welcome Paint by the Pond to Westfield for the community with special needs.”
