Westminster Presbyterian Church
For our service this week, July 4, 2021
Reverend Dr. Martha Campbell invites the community to worship and then leads everyone in the call to worship with Reverend Dr. Twining Campbell.
Dr Imre Szilas performs the Prelude: “Prelude to ‘America’” by Gordon Young.
After the Westminster chimes, Pastor Twine leads the community by singing the fourth verse of the hymn: “Beautiful magnificent for a spacious sky”.
Pastor Twine shares prayer announcements and concerns, then leads the congregation in prayer, followed by the Lord’s Prayer, and then the affirmation of faith.
Imre Szilas plays the hymn “The Bristol March” by Oliver Shaw.
The Enlightenment Prayer and the Bible Reading of Genesis 28: 10-17 follow, then Pastor Martha presents the sermon: Westminster Cares Act: Place. This is the first of our “PPP” series. The future of Westminster lies in supporting our place, our people and our programs. Pastor Martha observes that Westminster is a “thin place” where the distance between heaven and earth crumbles and we can glimpse the spiritual realm around us.
The service ends with the Charge, the Blessing and the Postlude: “Fanfare” by Richard Purvis played by Imre Szilas on the Westminster organ.
Our services are filmed by Robert Smith and are available on our webpage (wpcpas.org) and our Facebook and YouTube pages (Westminster Presbyterian Church, Pasadena, CA) or if you provide your contact details we can send a link every Sunday.
